- 1 cup (220g) plain yogurt (unsweetened)
- 1 cup (200ml) water (lukewarm)
- 1 packet (10g) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon (8g) salt
- 1 tablespoon (10ml) vegetable oil (for the dough, plus more for cooking)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, add:
- 4 cups of flour
- 1 packet (10g) of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Mix the dry ingredients well.
2. Add Wet Ingredients
- Pour in:
- 1 cup of yogurt
- 1 cup of lukewarm water
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- Mix with a spoon or spatula until it starts to come together.
3. Knead the Dough
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.
- Knead by hand for about 5–7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- It should be soft but not sticky. Add a little extra flour if needed.
4. Divide the Dough
- Divide the dough into 6–8 equal balls, depending on the size you want.
- Roll each ball into a round flatbread using a rolling pin (about 0.5 cm or 1/4 inch thick).
5. Cook the Bread (No Oven!)
- Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium heat.
- Lightly brush the pan with vegetable oil.
- Place one flatbread into the hot pan.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side, until bubbles form and the bottom has golden spots.
- Flip and cook the other side for 1–2 minutes.
- Press gently with a spatula to help it puff.
Repeat with remaining dough.
6. Serve Warm
- Brush with a bit of butter or olive oil (optional).
- Serve hot with dips, cheese, honey, or your favorite spread.
✅ Tips
- You can add herbs (like oregano or parsley) to the dough for flavor.
- To keep warm, wrap in a clean kitchen towel after cooking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight bag and reheat on a dry skillet or in a microwave.
