10-Minute No-Oven Bread

Ingredients

For the Bread Dough:

  • 4 cups (480g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (220g) plain yogurt (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup (200ml) water (lukewarm)
  • 1 packet (10g) baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon (8g) salt
  • 1 tablespoon (10ml) vegetable oil (for the dough, plus more for cooking)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, add:
    • 4 cups of flour
    • 1 packet (10g) of baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Mix the dry ingredients well.

2. Add Wet Ingredients

  • Pour in:
    • 1 cup of yogurt
    • 1 cup of lukewarm water
    • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Mix with a spoon or spatula until it starts to come together.

3. Knead the Dough

  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.
  • Knead by hand for about 5–7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
    • It should be soft but not sticky. Add a little extra flour if needed.

4. Divide the Dough

  • Divide the dough into 6–8 equal balls, depending on the size you want.
  • Roll each ball into a round flatbread using a rolling pin (about 0.5 cm or 1/4 inch thick).

5. Cook the Bread (No Oven!)

  • Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium heat.
  • Lightly brush the pan with vegetable oil.
  • Place one flatbread into the hot pan.
  • Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side, until bubbles form and the bottom has golden spots.
  • Flip and cook the other side for 1–2 minutes.
  • Press gently with a spatula to help it puff.

Repeat with remaining dough.

6. Serve Warm

  • Brush with a bit of butter or olive oil (optional).
  • Serve hot with dips, cheese, honey, or your favorite spread.

Tips

  • You can add herbs (like oregano or parsley) to the dough for flavor.
  • To keep warm, wrap in a clean kitchen towel after cooking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight bag and reheat on a dry skillet or in a microwave.
